課程概述

This course provides graduate students with a systematic treatment of many of the major issues and problems encountered in the conceptualization, measurement, and modeling of social theories. Research design, model building and specification analysis of social survey, causal inferences from non-experimental data, and report writing are all emphasized in this course.

課程要求
1. 所有上課的同學都需要按照進度課前閱讀指定的專書或研究論文(R1-R7),並於上課時繳交閱讀心得(R1)或依下列各問題撰寫研究論文(R2-R7)的閱讀紀要。紀要內容為回答十項問題,頁數不限,請使用中文書寫。除了在課堂上繳交作業紙本外,同學亦必須在上課前一天凌晨12點前,將該次作業的電子檔上傳至本課程網站(ceiba),才算作業繳交完畢。
有星號(*)的部分為optional readings,同學可以自己選擇閱讀,但不需繳交閱讀紀要。

(3). 作者選擇了哪些詮釋理論?這些理論的大致內容如何?
(4). 研究的主要假設有哪些?

(7). 作者採用哪些統計分析方法來處理研究資料?
(8). 此研究有哪些重要研究發現?
(9). 你對這篇研究整體的評論如何?
(10). 你對這篇論文閱讀後的心得。
2. 上課同學要參與課堂的報告提問和討論。
3. 課程的後段(數量方法部分)會有實際的資料分析,所有上課同學都要繳交所指定的作業。
4. 期末考為one-week take-home exam。
5. 課程成績計算:平時作業40%,期末考佔50%,課堂報告和討論參與佔10%。
